Eight traffic light systems on the test track are now equipped with the ITS-G5 based communication unit and put into operation. An essential part of the upgrade is the local and digital provision of information on the current signal phase (SPaT) and the existing road topology (MAP). Depending on the existing traffic light system, the SPaT messages can also provide information on the remaining time of the current signal phase and in future, forecasts on the further course of the signal phase. Four of the traffic light systems that have already been put into operation make it possible to make forecasts, and further two systems are undergoing quality assurance. This means that the systems are available for testing on the test track. By the end of the year, a total of 17 systems should be available.
