Since the turn of the year, two further traffic light systems have been equipped and commissioned with the ITS-G5 based communication unit in addition to the previous four systems. An essential part of the modernisation is the local and digital provision of information about the traffic light image (SPaT) and the existing road topology (MAP). Depending on the existing traffic light system, the SPaT messages can also provide information about the remaining time of the current traffic light image and, in future, forecasts about the further course of the traffic light image. This means that 6 locations are available on the test track for testing automated and networked driving functions and applications. By the end of the year, 5 more systems will be implemented and put into operation.
