ITS research project on dynamic map data has started and will also be tested at TAVF

In November, EDDY (European Digital Dynamic Mapping), a three-year research and development project led by the Authority for Transport and Mobility Transition (BVM), started. Together with six partners from research and SMEs as well as other major European cities, EDDY is developing standards for openly accessible high-resolution dynamic map data. Up to now, such maps have been the property of large navigation providers. With EDDY, the basics are now being provided so that cities, municipalities and local authorities can also make the data themselves publicly available in an Urban Dynamic Map in a public interest-oriented manner.

High-resolution, dynamic maps are needed for the guidance of urban traffic, for example in route finding,…

ITS World Congress 2021 in Hamburg: fka tests and presents automated driving along the TAVF

As part of the EU project L3Pilot, fka GmbH has already been able to test automated driving functions on public roads in Aachen. At the end of the project and at the ITS World Congress 2021, fka travelled to Hamburg with its test vehicle. Visitors to the congress were able to experience an automated ride in the fka test vehicle on the TAVF. In the weeks before and during the event, fka tested around 1000 km in urban areas, gaining valuable experience that can be used to further develop and safeguard automated driving. The drives took place on a 1.5 km section of the TAVF around the exhibition grounds and were always piloted by a safety driver.

The vehicle used for this purpose is specially equipped for the development and testing of…

ITS World Congress 2021 in Hamburg: T-Systems presents the Traffic Light Assistant

When traffic lights give drivers speed recommendations and the driver follows them, this reduces fuel consumption. This is demonstrated by systems such as the Green Light Optimised Speed Advisory (GLOSA). How this can work was tested as part of the "Real Lab Hamburg" projects. The focus of the project was not only on passenger cars but also on cyclists and e-scooter drivers.

At the ITS World Congress 2021, the Traffic Light Assistant from T-Systems was presented as an Android and iOS app. The app provides phase and forecast information on traffic lights in the test field for automated and connected driving (TAVF) in Hamburg. The traffic light assistant processes both location-based and map-based information for this purpose. It…
